Install the Level Rider on the horn as instructed
(see below). Start
determining your weak side by mounting your saddled
horse and walking forward a few strides.
Stop and look at the bubble. If the bubble is to the
left, add weight to your left seat bone/stirrup.
If the bubble is to the right, add weight to your
right seat bone/stirrup.
Eye the bubble
into the center. Think how this position feels. Your
horse may square up under you, reacting to your
centered seat. Repeat this exercise several times.
Backing your horse, stopping and centering your
bubble several times is also a good exercise to
determine your weak side. |
Next, start walking and make your seat bone/stirrup
adjustment,
eyeing the bubble to the center.
In the walk, the centered bubble will have a little
bounce to it. In the trot/lope strides, a centered
bubble will have a rhythmic swing or roll to it.
Again, if the bubble favors one side, adjust your
muscles so the bubble is consistent to center. You
may need to stop, walk or back to find that correct
position in the beginning. Soon the experience of
the body position and the muscle memory will become
more natural.
By doing your job and staying out of your horse's
way, you maximize your riding time by learning level
riding.
Have more fun during lessons and learn new skills. |
For best results, install the Level Rider on

Stand facing the front of your saddle and
stretch open
the bottom of the tube around the horn and
pull down to the cantle. (If it seems too
tight, lightly dust the interior of the tube
with baby powder.)

Continue pulling the tube down around horn
stem
until the level is snug and following
the slope of the horn
with the bubble level
laying left to right, parallel to the
cantle.
